Today is Amazon’s big summer Prime Day. Tons of items will make an appearance on a special stage at discounted prices for a limited time or until the inventory runs dry. These deals are specially prepared for members of Amazon’s Prime club, but are eventually opened to all visitors of the shopping site.
If you’re like me then buying the Vive is similar to a smartphone purchase and buying the Vive also came with a desire to have some accessories to increase the usability of your virtual reality headset. In this article I’ll try to highlight some accessories that are discounted during Prime day or I’ll give you some personal examples of equipment I’ve purchased for my Vive setup.
If you’re not already a Prime member please allow me to direct you to an affiliate link to sign up for a free 30 day trial before you go on your way to the big deals.
For the cost of a membership you will get early access to hot deals and a few other perks listed below:
- Unlimited Streaming with Prime Video
- Ad-free music with Prime Music
- Unlimited photo storage with Prime Photos
- Access to Kindle Owners’ Lending Library and Kindle First
First and foremost, I’m sorry, but I will not be linking to the HTC Vive since all the ones listed on Amazon are above the cost you can get one directly from HTC. I’ve written about these listings before and I’m quite dissatisfied that people bought the Vive only to resell it at a higher price.
Prime Day (lightning) Deals
These deals aren’t necessarily items I have, but a few of them are on my wishlist.
USB 3.0 hub – For those who might need a few extra of the latest USB ports. This hub has 4 ports and each can have the power manually controlled if desired.
Anker Dual USB Wall Charger – Slim down from two wall chargers to one charger for both Vive controllers. Use promo code PRIMED14 for an additional discount at checkout.
Magnetic MicroUSB charging cable – This 4 ft. cable comes with a tiny MicroUSB adapter that you could put in your Vive controllers so you don’t have to risk damaging the slot when it’s time to charge your controllers.
Pelican Case – Need a secure, waterproof container to transport your Vive in?
Dash buttons aren’t Vive related, but the deal Amazon is pushing for these things gives you $4 for every button purchase ($0.99 to buy $5 rebate = $4 profit).
Found on Amazon
These items are found on Amazon, but aren’t necessarily promoted deals.
HDMI cable – This 10 ft. cable is sold in a pair so you have a back up if needed. You could use this HDMI cable to go between the Vive link box and your PC for some extra distance between your PC and play area.
Ceiling to floor pole – This is an ideal pole to attach your lighthouse to if you are unable to use the included hardware to mount the lighthouses on the wall or ceiling. Note: You’ll need the item below to attach to the pole and hold the lighthouse.
Pipe clamp with camera thread – This item will attach to the pole listed above and the lighthouse will screw into this for positioning.
ASTRO Gaming headphones – A little above my price range for headphones, but remarks online about using these with the Vive have been stellar.
HDMI Display Port Adapter – For those with only a display port available you’ll need this to plug your Vive into.
Silly Googly Eyes – These are just some silly stickers to put on the front of your Vive headset for a laugh. There’s a few different sizes in this pack, but make sure you don’t cover
Gear I use to Vive
Tripods – These 7 1/2 ft. tripods work very well in a temporary setup for the lighthouses. After trying a couple of different models these give you the height and stability for solid performance in portable situations.
Tripod ballhead – A pair of these give you better control of where you aim your lighthouses. Use a ballhead with a tripod or with the wall mounts included in the Vive box.
Lowepro Backpack – This link is for the Fastpack 350 which is slightly bigger than the 250 that I have. In my bag I can fit my Alienware 15R2 and all Vive components comfortably.
I hope you find some good deals on accessories for your Vive and if you have any recommendations please list them in the comments below so I can add them to this list and make it better for all the readers.
If you’re not already a Prime member don’t forget to sign up for your free 30 day trial and as a reminder all the links in this post are affiliated with my Amazon Associates account for a small kickback if you make a purchase or sign up. Thanks for your support.
